Our Team

Kate grew up in Batesville, a small town in rural north central Arkansas, where she saw firsthand both the magic of family medicine and the difference that access to a trusted physician can make in a community. She attended college in Conway, Arkansas, and earned her medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. In 2020 she moved to Asheville for her Family Medicine residency at MAHEC and has been here ever since, most recently practicing at North Buncombe Family Medicine.

Patient relationships have always been the greatest joy of Kate’s work, and direct primary care gives her the time those relationships deserve — longer visits, a smaller panel, and room to dig deeper when something calls for it, with fewer insurance obstacles in the way. She is especially passionate about prevention, both through appropriate screening and through the everyday habits that support a long and healthy life. Kate believes patients do best when they feel genuinely heard and help shape their own plan of care, and she loves empowering people to make changes that last.

Kate lives in Asheville with her husband, Nelson, and their American Akita, Mango, who gets her out for a walk every single day. Outside the office you might find her listening to a storytelling or crime podcast, trying a local restaurant, working through a stack of fiction, or cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Kate’s specific interests include: caring for patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities, LGBTQIA health, pediatric care, preventive medicine, and lifestyle-based approaches to longevity.
